Post-buckling analysis of non-prismatic columns under general behaviour of loading

چکیده
The paper shows the effects of behaviour of loading during the buckling process on the value of critical force and initial stability of post-buckling path for elastic, non-prismatic columns. Perturbation method combined with Croll’s manoeuvre makes it possible to derive general formulae for the first or the second correction of the force, and hence to analyze stability in the post-buckling range. The effects of behaviour of active and reactive forces may be essential: in numerous examples the boundary values of structural parameters separating stability and instability are evaluated. Pre-buckling geometry changes are analyzed as well. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Post-local Buckling of Steel Plates in Concrete-filled Thin- Walled Steel Tubular Columns under Biaxial Loading
This paper studies the post-local buckling behaviour of steel plates in concrete-filled thin-walled steel tubular columns under biaxial loading using the finite element method. Geometric and material nonlinear finite element analyses are undertaken to investigate the post-local buckling strengths of imperfect steel plates under stress gradients. Based on the results obtained from the nonlinear ...
متن کاملStability and vibration analyses of tapered columns resting on one or two-parameter elastic foundations
This paper presents a generalized numerical method to evaluate element stiffness matrices needed for the free vibration and stability analyses of non-prismatic columns resting on one- or two-parameter elastic foundations and subjected to variable axial load. For this purpose, power series approximation is used to solve the fourth–order differential equation of non-prismatic columns with v...
متن کاملOptimization of the Prismatic Core Sandwich Panel under Buckling Load and Yield Stress Constraints using an Improved Constrained Differential Evolution Algorithm
In this study, weight optimization of the prismatic core sandwich panel under transverse and longitudinal loadings has been independently investigated. To solve the optimization problems corresponding to the mentioned loadings, a new Improved Constrained Differential Evolution (ICDE) algorithm based on the multi-objective constraint handling method is implemented. The constraints of the problem...
متن کاملOn the Use of Generalised Beam Theory to Assess the Buckling and Post-buckling Behaviour of Laminated Cfrp Cylindrical Stiffened Panels
The paper presents the application of a novel fast numerical tool, based on Generalised Beam Theory (GBT), to perform buckling and post-buckling analyses of laminated CFRP panels. GBT is a beam theory developed for prismatic thinwalled members (e.g., columns, beams or panels), which takes into account both global and local deformations. One of its main features is the fact that the cross-sectio...
متن کاملNumerical Formulation on Crack Closing Effect In Buckling Analysis of Edge-Cracked Columns
In this paper, buckling of simply supported column with an edge crack is investigated numerically and analytically. Four different scenarios of damage severities are applied to a column, open crack assumption and the effect of closing crack in stability of the column which depends on position and size of cracks, are numerically compared. Crack surfaces contact is modeled with GAP element using ...
